Individual Project Descriptions:
- Anthony Privetera - Bahoruco
- I live in a very small village in the province of Bahoruco,
located about 1800 meters above sea level in the Sierra de Bahoruco.
My project mainly consists of the construction of small nurseries for
purposes of reforestation of coffee and forest species. I am also
working to improve coffee production and marketing, as well as to improve
agricultural techniques and soil conservation. Most of my time is spent
talking to the farmers to find acceptable techniques that can be applied
in our specific areas.
- Judy Torres
- I'm in the Environmental Awareness Education sector placed in the south.
My project revolves around improving and maintaining my local dump site while
also promoting proper waste management and educating people (mainly within
the local school system) on environmental issues. I will also be working
on the construction and maintenance of a nursery, which will aid the
deforestation problem. As secondary projects I am creating a library
and giving English classes.
I feel completely at home in another country.Erica GiljohannFormer volunteer in the Dominican Republic 2005-2007.
